Social media for financial aid?

Standard

You think social media is just fun for friends? Think again.

President Bill Clinton announced that MTV and College Board will collaborate with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop the first ever social media tool for helping students find money for college.

This idea came from Devin Valencia, a recent grad from UNLV, who submitted it to the “Get Schooled College Affordability Challenge.” She won $100,000 for her brilliant idea and the app will launch later this year. It will take info from the user’s Facebook profiles to automatically generate a list of aid avenues. It will also provide step-by-step tutorials on the headache that is FAFSA and dealing with loans and debt.
